
born in rome (italy) on may 14, 1969, saverio tenuta
graduated in painting at the "academy of fine arts" in rome and begun working as
an art engraver and advertising graphic.
his first works in the comics field have been short stories and covers for several italian
publishers, using different tecniques and styles.
after a specialization year at the "international school
of comics" in rome he started teaching comic-book courses at the same school.
during the same period, tenuta collaborated with a slew of publishers: cierre
(on arthur king), universo (on intrepido),
tattilo (on playmen comix), general press (on il corvo presenta), rcs (on 2000 giorni al 2000) and phoenix
(on laida odius and italia XXIII secolo). for phoenix he also
published his first graphic novel, cold graze - risvegli di ghiaccio, written by
otto gabos.
at the same time he started collaborating with some american
publisher, painting several trading cards and a cover for event (on ash), a cover for sqp (conan the cruel) and a one-shot for sirius
(dolls), written by lorenzo bartoli. always for sirius he
created the visuals and a short story for a series titled tombstone girls
(published on crypts of dawn), and a short time later a set of celtic tarots has been published by scarabeo.
thanks to a series of painted short stories, (human contacts, light,
carpe diem, smoke)
saverio has become a regular guest on heavy metal, who celebrated with
the release of an 80-page special featuring morrigan
and tamous and published an
art-book titled elegia
in 2003.
another high-profile works is the
participation to dc comics jla:
riddle of the beast with painted artwork for the batman section.
after the comic-book courses at the "international
school of comics" in rome, tenuta also started keeping courses about sci-fi and
fantasy in 1996. |
